Frequently Asked Questions

Packaging & Shipping

Can I pick up my order locally?

Sorry, We do not allow our customers to pick up their orders.

Can PocketMaps be shipped worldwide?

Yes, we gladly offer international shipping to anywhere in the world. The client is responsible for any import/export fees in addition to shipping charges. We do not add additional shipping costs, and you may use your account if you wish to be billed directly by the carrier.

Do you band PocketMaps together or are they packed loose in a box?

We band 15 PocketMaps together at a time with a rubber band. This helps you select a handful of PocketMaps at a time when distributing them, as well as keep them safe during transport.

How much do PocketMaps weigh?

On average, PocketMaps weigh in at 23lbs per 1,000 units (based on our stock paper choice and a size of 3 rows x 8 columns - 9.21" x 15.76"; this also includes the packaging). Differences in paper weight, cover stock, and other variables impact final shipping weight.

How many PocketMaps are shipped per box?

How many PocketMaps do you ship per box?

We pack your PocketMaps in cardboard boxes and fill the box to capacity to prevent damage from product movements during shipping and transport. The actual number of PocketMaps per box is dependent upon the size and type of PocketMaps ordered. For larger orders, the boxes are placed on a pallet/skid and shrink-wrapped for additional protection. When we provide you with a quote, you will receive the exact number of boxes and/or skids/pallets along with a total weight of the shipment.

For larger orders where a pallet is used in shipping, a loading dock may be needed when a lift gate is not available.

Upon request, we can modify the packing method. For example, We could create bundles of up to 25 PocketMaps, dependent upon project and amount of panels. We can also drop ship variable amounts to different locations, such as hotels, retail stores, events, etc. Please indicate your preference in your request.

Do you have quality checks before shipping PocketMaps?

Yes. We have built quality into all of our processes to ensure that the end product meets our customers' requirements and expectations. Quality assurance checks are also carried out at various stages of the production cycle. We manufacture PocketMaps from two plants, one in the United States of America and one in the United Kingdom. We operate two plants to give you, our customer a quicker turn around time and a more affordable product to reduce shipping expenses.

How do you ship PocketMaps?

We ship using UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, RoyalMail & DPD, to name a few. Our shipping options range from shipping one single box all the way up to shipping full 40' ocean intermodal containers that go from a tractor-trailer to an ocean container ship, then to a trans and back to a tractor-trailer.

We do not add additional shipping rates – you simply pay what we pay. We can also use your shipping account if you prefer to be billed directly by the carrier.

Depending on your order size, we will ship your PocketMaps to you as a small package delivery (think FedEx, UPS, DHL) or on a pallet. We take great pride and care as in our shipping as this is the final mile of the journey before your custom PocketMaps enter the wild and help people find their way.

Typically, orders less than 15,000 PocketMaps will arrive in small boxes weighing approximately 23 pounds (10kg) each. Meanwhile, when an order has a lot of boxes, it is more economical to ship your PocketMaps to you on a pallet and delivered in bulk.

Please let us know when placing your order if you have a fork-lift or a loading dock available as pallets are heavy. We can always order a lift gate for your delivery if you do not have a loading dock or a forklift. Rest assured, your PocketMaps will arrive at your shipping address onetime, safe and ready to create engagement and impress your audience.

Can you provide a proof before production?

We understand just how vital it is to ensure that your artwork is perfect before sending it off to the printer. Here at PocketMaps, we offer multiple options for proofing so that every client has the confidence in knowing that their product is printing exactly how it should be.

Free Digital PDF Proof
We provide a free digital PDF soft-proof for every PocketMaps project. This proof will allow you to see a flattened version of your finalized artwork. With a digital PDF, you will be able to see the basic layout of your project and an overall view of your design. This type of proof is the quickest option for projects that are on a tight deadline. With this free

option, you will be able to quickly view your proof online and confirm if it is ready for printing. It’s important to remember that digital PDF soft-proofs are not ideal for color matching, as printed colors may appear different from what you see on your screen.

Free Digital Video Proof
We provide a video proof with every order of PocketMaps. For sensitive or confidential information we can make your video proof password-protected, just let us know when placing your order.

Laser Press Proof (6x3 Pocket-size or smaller)
$75.00 includes two sets of proofs and FedEx/UPS/DHL 2-day shipping.
Adds three days to production.

A laser press proof is a basic hard copy proof of your project. If you are looking for a printed-proof that you can physically hold to review the size and layout of your project, a laser press proof would be useful for you. A laser press-proof would also be a good proofing option if you are using a 4-color process on your project and want to see how your colors print. The laser press proof, however, does not accurately show PMS colors and is not printed on the same type of paper stock. Therefore the same coating finish (matte, gloss, etc.) will not show on a laser press proof.

Constructed Color Epson Inkjet Proof (Folded Dummy)
$185.00 includes two sets of proofs and FedEx 2 day shipping.
Adds three days to production.

A constructed color Epson proof is similar to a laser press proof. However, this type of printed-proof is printed on both sides of the uncoated paper and then hand-folded to mimic the final project. Ordering a constructed color-Epson proof means that you can see how your project will fold together, and how the assembled finish project will appear. Including this kind of proof in your order is an excellent option if you want to see a physical representation of how your design comes together as a whole, and if any folds within your project affect your artwork.

Keep in mind that this process is much like the laser press proof as it is suitable for 4-color process, but does not accurately show PMS colors. The paper it is printed on is not the same type of stock that the final project will be printed on. Therefore, the coating finish will not show on the constructed color Epson inkjet proof.

Product Proof (Wet Proof)
The cost ranges from range from $475.00-$750.00 and includes two sets of printed proofs and FedEx 2 day shipping. Adds five days to production. A product proof (also known as a Wet Proof) is an actual physical sample of your completed project. We highly recommend this type of proof for very large orders to ensure that every detail of your project is perfect before printing. A product proof will

show you exactly how your colors will print, and how your artwork looks on the chosen paper stock and coating. The proof will also come folded and assembled so that you can have a clear vision of exactly how your completed work will look.

Printing Your Proof
To save time and cost, you can print your free digital PDF soft-proof from your home or office printer. Printing a proof from your device cannot guarantee proper color matching or registration. However, it can give you a clear view of the layout of your project to help you spot any potential changes.
